The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is a national non-profit organization with over 50 state offices supported by more than 500,000 members devoted to ensuring free speech, equal rights, and other civil liberties as defined by the Bill of Rights and the U.S. Constitution. Here at the ACLU of the National Capital Area, we address civil liberties issues in the District of Columbia and Prince George's and Montgomery Counties in Maryland through legal action, legislative advocacy, and public education. We take on about 70 legal cases each year. We have over 10,000 members in the National Capital Area.
