Yes. Schools can: 1) Prohibit and punish threats to inflict bodily injury and speech that incites others to commit acts of violence or other illegal activity. 2) Limit sexually explicit, indecent or plainly offensive speech (even if you would have a right to say the same thing outside of school). 3) Impose limits on the time, place and manner of students’ expression for purposes of preventing disruption of educational activities. 4) Regulate school-sponsored activities and publications, such as the school newspaper or the school play.
